Vehicles in German Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were notified by a man who noticed a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.

Law enforcement say they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials report early analysis show the substance was likely human blood.

"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any harm in association with the event," they commented.

City officials announced they were trying "to unravel the case" and have asked to the public for details.

A senior political figure stated the vandalism made him without words and needed to be addressed rapidly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a shooter focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
